Applications Process
PLEASE NOTE: All Aim High sites are FULL.
The dates of the summer program are from Monday, June 28th through Friday, July 30th, 2010.
Aim High is NOT a first come, first served program - all applications received during the application period will be considered equally.
Aim High Application Tips and Information
Language and Region: Please select the application for your region where you would like to attend Aim High (SF, Oakland, or South Bay/Peninsula). The Aim High application is available in English, Spanish, and Chinese (SF only). All student questions are in English.
Short Answer questions: The Aim High application includes short answer/short essay questions for both families and students. These questions help us understand you and how you would benefit from Aim High and contribute to our learning community, so please answer thoughtfully!
Background/Demographic questions: Aim High is a community-oriented program and values diversity. Our students come from a wide variety of backgrounds, neighborhoods, schools, family situations, and income levels; we recognize that there are many, many kinds of students and families who need Aim High! There is no "magic answer" that will ensure your acceptance to Aim High, so please answer demographic questions accurately to the best of your ability.
Application completion: For funding reasons, Aim High requires that you include your income, ethnicity, and other demographic information that must be reported to supporting foundations, city officials, and the State of California. This is how we offer our program for free. For this reason, incomplete applications are not accepted.
Choosing a site: In San Francisco, you must select a first-, second-, and third-choice site. Applications that do not include three different site choices will not be considered. We do our best - but DO NOT GUARANTEE - to place you at your top choice site. Consideration is given to students who live in the neighborhood or who have siblings who attend Aim High at the site. In the East Bay and South Bay, applicants need only select one site.
Timing: Please allow adequate time to fill out the application completely and turn it in on time. Due to the high demand for our program, late or incomplete applications are not considered.
