Christopher J. Williams

Chris Williams is returning for his fourth summer with Aim High, his second as a Site Director. Born in New York City, Chris studied Education, Critical Race Theory and Creative Writing at Hampshire College. During the school year, Chris substitute teaches at MetWest High School in Oakland and coaches basketball at the Jewish Community Center of San Francisco.

In middle school, I was very small and very shy. I was a bookworm that spent a lot of time playing basketball to avoid trouble. I spent a lot of time with my family, raising my sister and starting my first real jobs.

Rebecca G. Hong

Rebecca Hong is joining Aim High as a Site Director for her very first summer. Rebecca grew up in Sunderland, Vermont and received a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature from Cornell University. During the school year, you can find Rebecca teaching history and eating *super* hot peppers.

In middle school, I had a haircut done by my papa, who used a bowl, upside-down on my head, to mark the trimline.

Kristina Berman

Kristina Berman is returning for her eighth summer with Aim High, and her third as a Site Director. Kristina grew up in Daly City and received an M.A. in Education from the University of California at Berkeley. She teaches first grade at Children’s Day School and enjoys traveling the world.

In middle school, I loved being in musical theater productions.

Laney Corda

Laney Corda is returning for her fifth summer with Aim High, and her fourth as a Site Director. Laney was born in North Haven, Connecticut and received a degree in International Area Studies at Saint Mary’s College of California. During the school year, you can find Laney teaching 6th Grade at James Lick Middle School and making fantastic lasagna.

In middle school, I wrapped myself up in books, music, and studying.

Danny Chui

Danny Chui is returning to Aim High for his ninth summer, and his fourth as a Site Director. Danny grew up in Daly City. He received his Teaching Credential from San Francisco State University and an M.A. in Educational Leadership from Santa Clara University. During the school year, he is the Dean of Students at Westmoor High School in Daly City and enjoys long-distance running.

In middle school, I was a nerd, which I still am. I played a few card games, including Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh.

Carl Siegel

An Aim High veteran, Carl Siegel is returning for his tenth summer at Aim High, and fourth as a Site Director. Carl was born in San Francisco and received various teaching credentials from San Francisco State University and is working towards his M.A. in Educational Leadership and Administrative Credential from the University of the Pacific. During the school year, you will find Carl teaching 6th grade dual-immersion non-fiction studies at Everett middle School.

In middle school, I was starting left wing for the James Lick soccer team that went 7-0 regular season, beat Hoover in the playoffs and lost 1-0 to Horace Mann in the city championship.

Chinatown


Tasha Yee

Tasha Yee is returning for her ninth summer with Aim High, and her fourth as a Site Director. Tasha grew up in the Bay Area and received a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from Dominican University. During the school year, you can find Tasha teaching science, working as an after-school program coordinator and taking zumba classes.

In middle school, I explored fun classes like wood shop, played the flute, and grew from an awkward preteen into a confident teenager.

Stan Voong

Stan Voong is returning for his fourth summer with Aim High, and second as a Site Director. A San Francisco native, Stan received his degree in mathematics from San Francisco State University. During the school year, you can find Stan teaching math at Academy of Arts and Sciences.

In middle school, I was a terror.

Gaela Peters

Gaela Peters is returning for her seventh summer with Aim High, and fifth as a Site Director. Gaela grew up in San Francisco and received her Master of Education from the University of Virginia. During the school year, you can find Gaela working as the school counselor at Balboa High School, exploring and road-tripping through California and crafting.

In middle school, I was awkward and, yet, comfortable with it. When I moved from San Francisco to New Jersey, I became far more insecure and aware of my differences. Now, I just embrace them!

Kelly Lee

Kelly Lee is returning for his eighth summer with Aim High, and his first as a Site Director. Kelly was born in San Francisco and received a degree in American Studies from Wesleyan University. During the the school year, you can find Kelly teaching sixth grade language arts and ancient civilizations at the East Bay School for Boys.

In middle school, I was a musical theater star. Playing the lead in Footloose in 8th Grade was the highlight of my childhood and adult life.

Jessie Escobar

Jessie Escobar is returning to Aim High for his eighth summer, and fourth as a Site Director. Jessie is both a San Francisco native and an Aim High graduate. He received a B.A. in Sociology from San Francisco State University. During the school year, you can find Jessie keeping students happy and healthy by working as the Community Health Outreach Worker for Wellness Initiative at Thurgood Marshall High School.

In middle school, I discovered an appreciation for art.

Michelle Cody

Michelle Cody is returning for her 15th summer with Aim High, and second as a Site Director. A San Francisco native and Aim High graduate, she received her M.A. in Urban Education and Social Justice from the University of San Francisco. During the school year, you can find Michelle teaching sixth grade math and supporting student government at Willie Brown Academy.

In middle school, I was super outgoing and a little shy. I played sports and was a huge nerd. I loved (and still love) learning.
