This year, Aim High Tahoe/Truckee turns five! We are commemorating this special milestone at our Fifth Anniversary Celebration on Saturday, May 13 at the Cedar Lake Sports Hotel in Truckee. The event starts at 6pm. It will be an inspiring evening as we gather to celebrate our impact and raise funds for the upcoming summer.

In 2012, Aim High Tahoe/Truckee launched at Kings Beach Elementary School with 50 students and 14 teachers. Since our inaugural summer, more than 220 students and 76 teachers have participated in the program. Most recently in 2016, we provided 117 students with a joyful summer learning experience that prepared them for the upcoming school year:

    • 85% of students made improvements in their reading, writing, math, and science skills
    • 91% said they a more positive attitude about learning because of Aim High
    • 97% said Aim High helped them understand how to make positive life choices

Beyond celebrating our achievement, Aim High Tahoe/Truckee’s Fifth Anniversary Celebration will honor our leaders, educators, and students, and showcase the Curiosity Lab: a hands-on exhibit that recreates an Aim High summer campus and invites guests to participate. Our esteemed list of honorees are:

Al Adams + Katie Jamison Bensley, Visionary Leaders

Gianna Harrington, Distinguished Educator, In Memoriam

Yuliana Mendoza, Youth of the Year

Our Fifth Anniversary Celebration promises to be an inspiring evening and is open to the general public. A multicourse dinner and wine will be provided with each ticket purchased. Funds raised in support of our Fifth Anniversary Celebration will be put to use immediately, employing 25 educators and providing 125 students with school supplies, transportation, curriculum materials, and more this summer. Join us in ensuring a bright future for Aim High students in Tahoe/Truckee.
